Self-Harm: What It Is & Alternatives To It

Hey there, baddies! Today we're discussing a somewhat sensitive topic: self-harm. Self-harm is the act of injuring oneself. Self-harm comes in many forms such as: - biting - scratching - pulling hair out - picking skin - cutting  - burning - punching yourself - over-exercising - binge-eating - starving - substance abuse  All these are forms of self-harm. These are all valid, though they should obviously not be done.  So, now that we know what self-harm is, how do we know if someone does it? For starters, if you notice burns, bruises, or cuts on their skin, there is definitely something wrong happening. Also, if you notice someone constantly covered up, even in extremely hot weather, that is another sign. Hair loss is another sign of self-harm or stress in general. Mentions of suicide or self-loathing, even as a joke, is another cause for concern. Extreme weight loss or weight gain can also be a sign. Signs of low self-esteem and depression in general are other conc...

FPs: What Are They & "How Do I Know If I Am One?"

Hellooo, baddies! I'm in an excellent mood as I type this, and I hope you're all doing great as well. Today, we're talking about FPs, AKA favorite person(s). This post is targeted more towards my non-BPD audience, because I'd like to share more information about what this is so you can know if you are someone's FP and if you are, you can learn how to interact with them and treat them so both of you can have a healthy relationship.  So what exactly is an FP? FP is the abbreviation for "favorite person". Borderlines all have an FP, and this person means the world to them. This person can be a best friend, a partner, a family member, anyone really. For me, I have multiple FPs. My mood depends entirely on them. For example, if they leave me on delivered for more than five minutes, I freak out, and that brings us to the topic of splitting.  Splitting in simple terms, as I mentioned before, is when a borderline's mood and perception of themselves or others...

Symptoms of BPD

Hello hello hello, baddies! Welcome to another post. This time, I'll be sharing some of the symptoms of BPD and talking about them. Most of these are symptoms I experience, though not every borderline is the same, so having or not having some of these symptoms does not mean you have or don't have BPD.    1: emotional instability People with BPD experience extreme emotional instability. Psychologically, this is called "affective dysregulation". This can be experienced as extreme and sudden mood swings. Often times, my mood can instantly change to the opposite with no warning.  2: splitting  Borderlines experience something called "splitting". Splitting is when an individual with BPD suddenly changes their opinion, thoughts, and feelings about either themselves or someone else. This can be triggered by many things, such as their FP (favorite person; we'll discuss that in a later post) leaving them on delivered for a long time or when someone says something...

What Is BPD?

Hey, baddies! Today, I am going to answer a question I get a lot, which is "What even is BPD?". I'm so very glad you asked. BPD, AKA borderline personality disorder, is a cluster B personality disorder. Don't worry, I don't expect you to understand what that means right away; we'll talk about disorder clusters more later. But for now, let's discuss BPD. To start, let me make it clear that borderline personality disorder is NOT bipolar disorder. They are separate disorders in the same cluster. Lots of love to my bipolar babes, though! BPD and BPD symptoms/characteristics affect nearly 6% of the population. 1.6% of the US population are diagnosed with BPD and 75% of those are women. While you may experience many, and by many I mean most, BPD symptoms in your teenage and adolescence years, you cannot get an official diagnosis in the US until you reach 18 years of age. I was 15 when I got diagnosed, but I got diagnosed in a different country, which is why th...
